The Most Complete Guide to Toilet Water Fittings

November 21,2025

Toilet Water fittings are indispensable components of bathroom products. However, many consumers may not fully understand these fittings when making a purchase. As a professional bathroom manufacturer, OVS Bathroom will explain toilet flush accessories to you in detail about water fittings product knowledge.

1. Buttons

Toilet buttons can be categorized based on their usage: top press, side press, and front pull. The shapes of the buttons include round, square, and oval, with round buttons being the most common in the market. Round buttons come in three different sizes: 40mm, 50mm, and 60mm,  and most of them are 40mm for export.

2. Flush valve

The main function of a flush valve is to control drainage, which typically falls into two types: single flush and dual flush.

Single Flush Valve: Usually works with front pull, side, or side press buttons. It uses a chain mechanism to pull upward, relying on buoyancy to slowly descend and complete a flushing cycle.

Dual Flush Valve: Features two buttons that can control different flushing volumes separately. Due to water-saving considerations, dual flush valves are increasingly favored by consumers.

Flush valves come in various diameters. From the perspective of ceramic materials, standard flush valve diameters are either 65mm or 81mm, so special attention should be paid to the diameter when configuring bathroom fittings. Additionally, the height of the flush valve (i.e., the base) comes in different sizes such as 18cm, 20cm, 24cm, and 28cm, and should be selected based on the height of the water tank.

Another critical component of the base is the overflow pipe, which serves two main functions:

Overflow Prevention: If the toilet's water valve malfunctions and water cannot drain in time, excess water will flow out through the overflow pipe, effectively preventing the water tank from overflowing.

Automatic Water Supply: The water supply valve has a refill pipe that can automatically add water when the height of the water seal does not meet requirements.

3. Inlet Valve

The inlet valve controls the automatic filling of the toilet tank with water. When the water level in the tank drops below a certain water level, the inlet valve will begin to supply water until the level rises to a preset height, after which it will stop the water supply. Currently, inlet valves are mainly of the pressure difference type, while earlier versions used piston types. Their primary functions include adjusting the water supply amount and regulating the water supply pressure.
